Seismic Safety of Large Scale Lifeline Systems

To assess the seismic reliability of large scale lifeline networks taking into account failure probability of the components, we developed an algorithm which has only polynomial complexity to enumerate paths in the network. Using this algorithm, we developed a computer program to evaluate seismic reliability of a very large scale lifeline network composed of more than million components by taking into account the uncertainty of the attenuation law, shear wave velocity and components failure level. We also develop analytical methods to simulate and evaluate nonlinear deformation reaching to critical condition of buried pipes.
